Lanesborough Planning Board Learns of Glamping Resort Application at Donnybrook Property

LANESBOROUGH — October 20, 2025 — Lanesborough Planning Board learns glamping resort has applied for permits at Donnybrook and launches outdoor recreation zoning review. Town Planner Andrew Grover disclosed at the October 20 meeting that Under Canvas, a national glamping resort operator with locations near national parks across the country, has filed for a special permit from the Zoning Board of Appeals and site plan review from the Planning Board at the former Donnybrook property along the Brody Mountain Road corridor — one of the company's few east coast locations. The board simultaneously opened a debate on whether to expand the existing Limited Business zone, create an overlay, or establish a new outdoor recreation district along the North Main Street and Route 7 corridor, with members assigned to review GIS zoning maps and the bylaw use table before a November discussion. A town administrator working group, including KP Law municipal counsel and the Finance Committee chair, will also begin meeting with mall developer JMJ Enterprises to advance pre-application work. The board unanimously approved an Approval Not Required lot-line adjustment at 520 North Main Street, conveying 0.715 acres between family-owned parcels.
