Lanesborough Select Board Appoints Nate Fenwick DPW Superintendent on One-Year Contract

LANESBOROUGH — September 25, 2025 — Lanesborough Select Board unanimously appoints new DPW superintendent and two interim town hall staffers. The board voted 3-0 Thursday to name Nate Fenwick as Department of Public Works superintendent on a one-year contract, with Chair Deborah Maynard citing Fenwick's strong operational knowledge but flagging a likely "learning curve related to the paperwork side of the role, such as state reports, budgets and procurement laws." Member Michael Murphy called the one-year term "setting you up for success" rather than a criticism, noting it preserves options for a long-term deal, a renewal, or a mutual exit at the year mark. The board also voted 3-0 to hire Lanesborough resident Stacy Nash, a 40-year General Dynamics veteran available up to 20 hours per week, and former town administrative assistant Beth Carroll as at-will, no-contract interim administrative assistants to jointly cover a vacancy in the position. The meeting closed with the board entering executive session for non-union contract negotiations.
