Select Board Bars Resident From Dog Ownership for 5 Years

Select Board · Meeting of September 21, 2026

Lanesborough Select Board hears warning that mall sale worth up to $40 million could collapse. Joseph Jones of JMJ RE Holdings LLC told the board Monday that Cypress Equities' purchase agreement requires dissolving the Baker Hill Road District, and that Vice Chair Julie Baker's proposal to preserve the district in reduced form has "put the transaction at serious risk." Separately, the board voted unanimously to bar Lori Broderick of 17 Balance Rock Road from owning a dog for five years after Animal Control Officer Dale Newberry said her dog attacked a neighbor's cat on Orchard Street last month, the latest incident in a pattern dating to 2024. The board also approved a $44,000 salt shed roof quote, a $40-a-day Berkshire Humane Society boarding contract, and appointed Jason Brielle and Julie Baker to a new legislative working group on state funding priorities.
