Lanesborough Select Board Unanimously Backs McCann Tech School's $6.8 Million Repair Project

LANESBOROUGH — October 14, 2025 — Lanesborough Select Board votes unanimously to back a nearly $17 million repair project at McCann Technical School, with the town's share of borrowing estimated at $6.8 million. The board acted under MGL Chapter 71, Section 16, Subsection D at its October 14 meeting, supporting the Massachusetts School Building Authority accelerated repair project that will replace the school's 1997 roof and original 1961 single-pane steel-framed curtain walls. Northern Berkshire Vocational Regional School District Superintendent Brosnan told the board that MSBA will cover 64 percent of eligible costs — among the highest reimbursement rates in the program — and that 24 of 26 comparable projects closed last year under budget. The town's first obligation is interest only in fiscal year 2027; Lanesborough does not need a special town meeting to approve participation. Six of the nine member communities had already voted in support; approval must be unanimous or MSBA withdraws entirely.
