Finance Committee Backs New Legislative Work Group

Finance Committee · Meeting of September 8, 2026

Lanesborough Finance Committee floats cross-board group to chase state grant money. Chair Lyndon Moore's panel approved its August 11 minutes 4-0 with one abstention, then backed member Kristen Toole's plan for an informal work group linking the Finance Committee, Select Board and Planning Board to identify state funding before budgets are finalized, saying the town has "really missed out on opportunities to get funding for things because no one's ever asked." Vera Farrell volunteered to represent finance on the town administrator search's screening committee after recalling a salary overrun roughly three years ago. Reviewing early FY27 reports, members flagged a police training-reimbursement line budgeted at $500 that hit $10,000, and an ambulance station lease budgeted at $43,600 that hit $76,800, or 176 percent of budget.
