Lanesborough Finance Committee approves $85,446 in FY26 year-end transfers

LANESBOROUGH — July 2, 2026 — Lanesborough Finance Committee approves $85,446 in year-end transfers, opening fiscal year 2027 with a three-member quorum. Chair Lyndon Moore, David Parks, and Kristen Toole — the only members present at the July 2 meeting — unanimously approved two transfer packages: a $7,500 draw from the Reserve Fund to cover legal expenses related to the mall, union negotiations, and personnel matters, and a $77,945.78 package of line-item transfers, nearly all of it covering EMS wages overtime at the 1.5 rate stemming from the town's January 2026 shift to 24-hour ambulance coverage. Moore noted that EMS Director Jen had anticipated the year-end transfer scenario in her December 2025 Select Board presentation, and that approximately $32,000 in unspent overnight stipends — no longer paid under the 24-hour model — offset more than half the overtime overrun. Parks requested a cost breakdown from the law account by subject matter, saying "it is costing taxpayer money." The committee also announced a vacancy created when a member was elected to the Select Board, with Mark Seegers and Al Terranova already having filed interest forms; a candidate interview process is planned for the next meeting, set for Tuesday, August 11, at 6 p.m.
